About Me

P4250308

My name is Valerie McCutcheon, née LeBlanc. To clarify, I don’t love bugs. I love my Bug. But not as much as I love my husband. I married Stuart on April 25, 2009.  I’m from Miami and will always love the Miami Hurricanes, but I love my husband so much that I have relocated to Polk County for him, and now reside in Lake Alfred.

My husband Stuart is a firefighter/outdoorsman/hunter/gator wrestler/handyman.  He takes great care of me. We (and by we I mean Stuart) have been working on completely gutting our house, a feat that has been going on for almost two years. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel though, and it has crossed the 3/4 completed mark where it is starting to look more like an actual house instead of a construction zone.

In May 2008 we adopted a husky/shepherd mix we named Koby. The not-so-little hellion is working on growing bigger than I am, and while he has his pain-in-the-ass moments, his adorable face ensures that we can’t stay mad him for too long. He is great company for me while Stuart is at the fire station. I love my dog more than I love my Bug. The dog loves Stuart more than he loves me.

I work as a production/ad services manager at a magazine publishing company in Winter Park, which is quite the commute, but I do it every day because I love my job too. But not as much as I love my husband. Or my dog. I guess it’s right up there with the Bug.

Stuart is working on turning me into a Polk County girl, and while our one (and only) camping trip to date was a giant disaster, I love him so much I am willing to give it another shot! Actually, he wrote that into our vows.

I love being on the water and most weekends you can find us out on the boat. I think that one of the best things about Polk County is the ability to take your boat out and hit about 4 or 5 bars in one day on one or two lakes. This combines two things we love: beer and boating.

With the willing help of my husband, I am going to be embarking on a mission to tour and review some Polk County bars, to hopefully give people a bigger glimpse into some Polk County nightlife (or daylife). Bottom’s up!
